18 Platoon
By Sydney Jary
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
Sydney Jary's memoir of commanding 18 Platoon, 4th Battalion, the Somerset Light Infantry, from Normandy in 1944 to the end of the war in Germany. Jary, who took over the platoon as a twenty-year-old lieutenant, writes plainly about leadership, fear, morale and the men he led, and the book became a classic on small-unit leadership read by generations of British officers.
