A Man for All Markets: From Las Vegas to Wall Street, How I Beat the Dealer and the Market
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, Business & Money
A Man for All Markets (2017) is Edward O. Thorp's memoir. He describes his Depression-era childhood and how he used probability theory and an early IBM computer to work out card counting for blackjack, tested it in Nevada casinos and published it as Beat the Dealer. He then took the same methods to Wall Street, applying them through his hedge fund, Princeton Newport Partners, and he reflects on risk, Warren Buffett and Bernie Madoff.
