A Neurophenomenology of Awe and Wonder (2015) is a scholarly book by Shaun Gallagher, Lauren Reinerman-Jones, Bruce Janz, Patricia Bockelman and Jörg Trempler. The authors combine neuroscience, phenomenology and astronauts' accounts to study awe and wonder, including in virtual-reality simulations of spaceflight. They argue for a non-reductionist cognitive science that takes first-person experience seriously alongside third-person brain data. The project grew out of research on what astronauts feel when they look back at Earth.
