A Pelican at Blandings (1969; US title No Nudes Is Good Nudes) opens with Lord Emsworth in a rare state of peace, which unwelcome guests, led by the Duke of Dunstable, quickly destroy. Galahad Threepwood comes back to deal with the invaders. Much of the trouble centers on a painting of a nude that the duke is keen to buy, and Galahad also steers several young people's love affairs past family objections.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
