A Second Chance: For You, For Me, and For the Rest of Us

By Catherine Hoke

Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, Self-Help

After a career in private equity, Catherine Hoke started a business program for Texas prisoners in 2004, teaching incarcerated men to channel their hustle into legal enterprises. In 2009 she was banned from Texas prisons after relationships with program graduates. Her book tells how she confronted that shame and launched Defy Ventures in 2010, and shares stories of the entrepreneurs in training she works with, arguing that no one should be defined by the worst thing they have done.
