Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, History

In American Sniper, Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, writing with Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice, recounts his upbringing in Texas, his SEAL training and his four combat tours in Iraq as a sniper, including the battle for Ramadi, where he writes that insurgents nicknamed him the Devil of Ramadi. Passages by his wife, Taya Kyle, describe how deployments and war strained their marriage, their children and Kyle himself. The book was adapted into a 2014 film directed by Clint Eastwood.
