AMORALMAN: A True Story and Other Lies
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
Amoralman (Knopf, 2021) is magician Derek DelGaudio's memoir of the years he spent as a dealer in a rigged private poker game in Los Angeles. Hired for his sleight of hand, he works as a bust-out dealer, secretly controlling the cards so that wealthy players lose. DelGaudio describes his childhood, his apprenticeship in card magic and his growing unease with deception, and reflects on honesty, identity and the path that led to his stage show In & Of Itself.
