Bad Dirt
By Annie Proulx
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Bad Dirt (2004) is the second collection of Wyoming stories by Annie Proulx, after Close Range. Many of the stories are set in the fictional town of Elk Tooth and the surrounding ranch country. Proulx mixes realism with comic and fantastical touches, writing about ranchers, bar owners, drifters and newcomers, the harsh landscape and the changes that tourism and money bring to small Western communities.
