Blandings Castle (1935; U.K. title Blandings Castle and Elsewhere) collects twelve stories. The first six are set at Blandings and feature Lord Emsworth, his giant pumpkin, his pig, the Empress, and his sister Lady Constance. In "The Custody of the Pumpkin," Emsworth's pride in his vegetable puts his son Freddie's romance at risk. The rest of the book includes a story featuring Bobbie Wickham and a group of Mr. Mulliner tales set in Hollywood.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
