Blood Meridian, Or, The Evening Redness in the West
By Cormac McCarthy
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Cormac McCarthy's 1985 novel, based on historical events on the Texas–Mexico border in 1849 and 1850, follows a fourteen-year-old runaway from Tennessee known only as the kid. He falls in with the Glanton gang, a band of scalp hunters paid to kill Native Americans, and with Judge Holden, a towering, hairless man of great learning and a hunger for violence. McCarthy follows them across the desert borderlands in dense, biblical prose.
