Break Through: From the Death of Environmentalism to the Politics of Possibility is a 2007 book by Ted Nordhaus and Michael Shellenberger, who later founded the Breakthrough Institute. It grew out of their controversial 2004 essay The Death of Environmentalism. The authors argue that the traditional environmental movement, focused on limits and regulation, has failed to address global warming. They call for an optimistic politics built on public investment in clean energy and innovation. Later editions had a new subtitle.
