By Any Media Necessary (2016), by media scholar Henry Jenkins and his co-authors, examines how young Americans use media and popular culture to take part in politics. Drawing on case studies such as the Harry Potter Alliance, the DREAMer movement for undocumented youth, the Invisible Children campaign and young American Muslims, the authors show how young people use storytelling, fan culture and social media to organise and press for change outside traditional political institutions.
