Case Histories is a 2004 novel by Kate Atkinson, the Whitbread Award-winning author of Behind the Scenes at the Museum. It introduced Jackson Brodie, a former soldier and police officer turned private investigator in Cambridge. Brodie is drawn into three old cases: a three-year-old girl who vanished from her family's garden in 1970, a young woman murdered in her father's law office, and a young mother who killed her husband with an axe. The cases turn out to be connected. It was adapted for BBC television.

- Stephen King: “Not just the best novel I read this year (it actually made EW’s ”official” top 10 fiction list in 2004), but the best mystery of the decade.”
