China Goes Global: The Partial Power
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
China Goes Global: The Partial Power (2013) is a book by China scholar David Shambaugh of George Washington University. Shambaugh examines China's global presence in diplomacy, economics, culture and security. He argues that despite its economic weight, China remains a partial power without the soft power or alliances of a true global leader such as the United States in the twentieth century.

- Fareed Zakaria: “This week's book of the week is David Shambaugh's, "China Goes Global: the Partial Power." One of the world's top China experts talks to Chinese leaders, uses detailed research and demonstrates the nature and extent of China's global power and ambitions, but perhaps most surprisingly, its limitations. If you think China is about to take over the world, you need to read this excellent book.”
