Henry Paradene has inherited Ashby Hall, a rambling country house, but not the income to run it, in Company for Henry (1967; US title The Purloined Paperweight). His hope is to sell the place to a visiting American millionaire. The plot soon turns on a valuable paperweight, Henry's spirited niece Jane, and a young man who has his own reasons for turning up at the hall, which he keeps to himself at first.
