Cameron Colley is an Edinburgh journalist who lives on cigarettes, whisky, drugs and computer games. While chasing a tip from an anonymous source, he becomes aware of a series of brutal attacks on powerful men, some of them figures he has written against. As the police begin to suspect him, Cameron must work out who is behind the killings. Some chapters are told in the second person from the attacker's point of view. A film adaptation followed in 2000.
