Covenant & Conversation: Exodus, the Book of Redemption

Covenant & Conversation: Exodus, the Book of Redemption (2010) is the second of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks's five volumes of essays on the weekly Torah portion, drawn from the weekly Torah commentaries he wrote under the Covenant & Conversation name. Here Sacks reads Exodus as the story of a people's journey from slavery to freedom: the Israelites in Egypt, Moses' leadership, the plagues, the revelation at Sinai and the building of the Tabernacle. A central theme is that freedom requires law, memory and collective responsibility to endure.
