Danny the Champion of the World
By Roald Dahl
Categories: Children's Books
Danny lives with his widowed father in an old caravan behind the filling station they run, and in Roald Dahl's 1975 novel he discovers that the father he adores has a secret passion: poaching pheasants from the woods of Victor Hazell, a rich and bullying landowner. When Hazell plans his grand annual shooting party, father and son hatch a daring scheme using raisins and sleeping pills to take his birds. Dahl expanded the book from his adult short story "The Champion of the World."
