Day of Infamy
By Walter Lord
Categories: History
Walter Lord's 1957 account follows the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, hour by hour, through the experiences of the people who lived it. Lord interviewed or corresponded with 577 participants, including sailors, soldiers, nurses, civilians and Japanese airmen. He moves from the first radar warning that went unheeded to the bombing of the battleships along Ford Island and the confusion ashore. The narrative also tracks the reaction across Hawaii and the mainland.
