Fox in Socks
By Dr. Seuss
Categories: Children's Books
Billed on its cover as dangerous, Fox in Socks (1965) is a Beginner Book of escalating tongue twisters. Fox, a fast talker in blue socks, coaxes the reluctant Mr. Knox through rhymes about socks, clocks, chicks and bricks, a noodle-eating poodle and tweetle beetles battling in bottles. Dr. Seuss wrote it to be read aloud and stumbled over, turning practice with rhyming sounds into a game, while Knox's mounting exasperation supplies the comedy.

- Richard Branson: “I have been reading a lot of books by one of my favourite authors, Dr Seuss... There is more wisdom and humour in his cartoons and rhymes than in any number of lengthy and highbrow books.”
