Fresh Off the Boat (2013) is a memoir by Eddie Huang about growing up in a Taiwanese American family in Washington, D.C., and Orlando. Huang describes his strict parents, his father's restaurants, and how hip-hop, basketball and food helped him make sense of feeling like an outsider. He follows his path through school, a brief law career and stand-up comedy to opening the New York restaurant Baohaus. The book inspired a television sitcom of the same name.
