Legal scholar Alan Dershowitz, who says he opposes Donald Trump politically, argues that the efforts to stop Trump from running in 2024 threaten due process, the right to counsel and free speech, and that defenders of Trump's constitutional rights face attempts to silence them. Dershowitz proposes standards for when a likely candidate of the opposing party should be indicted, drawing on the cases of Richard Nixon, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, and warns of precedents that could be turned against other controversial figures.
