Girl with Curious Hair (1989) is David Foster Wallace's first collection of short stories. The stories include a contestant on Jeopardy!, a group of punk rockers and a Young Republican, and an imagined Lyndon Johnson. The longest piece, Westward the Course of Empire Takes Its Way, follows students in a writing program on their way to a reunion of everyone who ever appeared in a McDonald's ad.
