Global Warming: The Complete Briefing (fifth edition, 2015, Cambridge University Press) is a textbook account of climate change by Sir John Houghton, the physicist who chaired or co-chaired the scientific assessments of IPCC Working Group I from 1988 to 2002. Updated to reflect the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, it explains greenhouse gases and the science of the climate system, the likely impacts of warming and their uncertainties, and the options for mitigation, energy and policy.
