Michael Lewis's 2023 book profiles Sam Bankman-Fried, the young founder of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, whom Lewis followed closely for more than a year. Lewis traces Bankman-Fried's path from a home with academic parents through the trading firm Jane Street to Hong Kong and the Bahamas. He describes how Bankman-Fried built FTX and the trading firm Alameda Research into a business worth billions, and how the empire collapsed in November 2022.
