Great Day for Up!

Dr. Seuss wrote the text of this Bright and Early Book, and Quentin Blake, the artist known for his drawings in Roald Dahl's novels, supplied the pictures. The rhymes celebrate the start of a new day, calling on worms, frogs and butterflies to wake. When the sun rises, so do the rabbits, whales and snails. Baseballs and kites fly into the air, and people climb stairs, ladders and Ferris wheels, until it seems everyone is up. Well, almost everyone.

Richard Branson: “I have been reading a lot of books by one of my favourite authors, Dr Seuss... There is more wisdom and humour in his cartoons and rhymes than in any number of lengthy and highbrow books.”
