Here Comes the Strikeout (1965) by Leonard Kessler is an early reader about a boy who wants to hit the ball in baseball. Bobby can run fast and loves to play, but every time he comes to bat, he strikes out. His friend Willie, a strong hitter, helps him practice, and Bobby learns that he must work hard rather than rely on good luck charms. Written in simple sentences for beginning readers, the book is part of the I Can Read series.
