Hind Swaraj or Indian Home Rule
Categories: History, Politics & Social Sciences
Mohandas K. Gandhi wrote this short book in Gujarati in 1909, on a ship returning from London to South Africa, and it was soon banned in India by the British. Written as a dialogue between a reader and an editor, it argues that India's real enemy is modern industrial civilization rather than the British themselves, and that true self-rule must come through nonviolent resistance and self-reliance, not violence.
