Humiliated and Insulted (1861) is Fyodor Dostoevsky's first full-length novel after his return from Siberia. The narrator, Ivan Petrovich, a struggling young writer in St. Petersburg, loves Natasha, who has left her family for Alyosha, the weak son of the scheming Prince Valkovsky.
