Inversions

On a medieval-level world, two stories unfold side by side: a woman known as the Doctor serves as physician to a king amid court intrigue, while a bodyguard named DeWar protects a ruling general in a rival land. The novel never names the Culture, but readers can sense its quiet presence behind the lives of both outsiders.
