Keeping At It
By Paul Volcker
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
Paul Volcker, chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1979 to 1987, looks back on a career in public service that spanned six presidents and included his campaign against runaway inflation. Written with Christine Harper and published in 2018, the memoir describes the crises he managed alongside politicians, central bankers and financiers. Volcker traces his ideals to his father, the town manager of Teaneck, New Jersey, and sets out his three verities: stable prices, sound finance and good government.
