Leave It to Psmith (1923) brings Psmith to Blandings Castle. Out of work, he places a newspaper advertisement offering to do anything, and is hired to steal a diamond necklace belonging to Lady Constance Keeble, Lord Emsworth's sister. He arrives posing as a Canadian poet, falls for Eve Halliday, the castle's new librarian, and has to stay one step ahead of the suspicious secretary Baxter and a pair of crooks after the same necklace.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
