Long Walk To Freedom
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
Nelson Mandela's 1994 autobiography follows his life from a childhood in a rural village in the Transkei to his work as a lawyer and activist against apartheid. Mandela describes helping lead the African National Congress, the trial that sent him to prison and the twenty-seven years he spent behind bars, much of it on Robben Island. He closes with his release in 1990 and the road to the 1994 elections that made him president.
