Love's Labor's Lost
Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction
In this early Shakespeare comedy, printed in 1598, King Ferdinand of Navarre and three lords swear to spend three years in study, fasting and avoiding women. Almost at once the Princess of France arrives on a diplomatic mission with three of her ladies. The vows soon give way to love letters, disguises and elaborate wordplay, with a pompous Spaniard, a pedantic schoolmaster and a curate adding comic subplots.
