Masterpieces of Fantasy Art (2020, TASCHEN), edited by Dian Hanson, is a large-format survey of the genre from 1400 to the present. Old Masters such as Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch appear alongside more than 100 illustrators, among them Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, H. R. Giger, Moebius, Rowena Morrill and Michael Whelan. Paintings are shown with preparatory sketches, paperback covers, magazines and calendars, and Hanson's biographies trace each artist's life and career.
