In the fifth Hitchhiker's book, Arthur Dent is living as the sandwich maker of a quiet village on a remote planet when Random, the teenage daughter he did not know he had, is left in his care. Meanwhile Ford Prefect finds the Guide's offices under sinister new management and a dangerous new Mark II Guide on the loose. The threads pull everyone back toward Earth in its many parallel versions. It was the last Hitchhiker's novel Douglas Adams wrote.
