Notes on Grief
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's 2021 book is a short, personal essay about the sudden death of her father, James Nwoye Adichie, in Nigeria in June 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Separated from her family by lockdown and connected to them only by video calls, she describes the shock, anger and disbelief of grief, her father's life and character, and how mourning changed her sense of herself and her family.
