Categories: Mystery, Thriller & Suspense
Obsidian is a 2020 crime novel by the Canadian writer Thomas King, the latest in his DreadfulWater mysteries, published by HarperCollins and a finalist for a Crime Writers of Canada award. Thumps DreadfulWater, a Cherokee former police officer who now works as a photographer in the small town of Chinook, is drawn back into an old case when a killer from his past seems to have returned. The book mixes a tense murder plot with dry humour, small-town characters and Thumps's grief over the losses he left behind in California.

- Margaret Atwood: “Chosen as reading for The Globe and Mail Book Club she hosted with Thomas King (Sept. 2020). Her words on King: “He’s a very good writer. He’s very clear. He’s very succinct. And in the fiction, he’s very funny in a dour kind of way.””
