Paul Simon: The Life

By Robert Hilburn

Categories: Arts & Photography, Biographies & Memoirs

Paul Simon: The Life (2018) is Robert Hilburn's biography of the singer-songwriter, written with Simon's cooperation and more than a hundred hours of interviews. Hilburn follows Simon from Queens through Simon & Garfunkel, the solo years and Graceland, drawing on family and collaborators to show how an obsessive craftsman built songs and albums. It is a career portrait as much as a life story.

• Stephen King: “Every now and then--rarely!--a book casts a little light on the creative development of a gifted artist. PAUL SIMON: THE LIFE is one of those few. Read it if you like Simon; read it if you want to discover how talent unfolds itself. it's by Robert Hilburn.”
