Pericles
Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction
Printed in 1609 and probably written by Shakespeare with George Wilkins, this late romance follows Pericles, Prince of Tyre. After uncovering a king's terrible secret, he flees and is driven from shore to shore by storms. He wins a wife, Thaisa, only to lose her at sea, and leaves his infant daughter, Marina, to be raised in Tarsus. The medieval poet John Gower serves as narrator. The play was left out of the 1623 First Folio.
