By Roger Kahn
Categories: History, Sports & Outdoors
Rickey & Robinson is a 2014 book by sportswriter Roger Kahn, author of The Boys of Summer. It tells the story of Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers executive, and Jackie Robinson, who broke baseball's color line in 1947. Drawing on his own reporting and acquaintance with both men, Kahn challenges some of the familiar versions of the story. He explores the business, politics and personalities behind baseball's integration and the courage it demanded of Robinson.
