Ring of Bright Water
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
Gavin Maxwell describes his life at Camusfeàrna, his name for a remote cottage at Sandaig on the west coast of Scotland, where waterfalls, the sea and the shore made a home for wildlife. At its heart is Mijbil, a smooth-coated otter he acquired in 1956 while traveling the marshes of southern Iraq with Wilfred Thesiger. Maxwell tells of bringing the otter home to Scotland and of its playful, water-loving life there, and of Edal, an African otter who joined him.
