Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, History

Cowritten by journalist John Weisman and first published in 1992, Richard Marcinko's autobiography traces his rise through the US Navy ranks to create and command SEAL Team Six, the service's first dedicated counterterrorist unit. Marcinko recounts combat missions in Vietnam and classified operations from Central America to the Middle East. He also describes heading Red Cell, a team assigned to test the security of Navy installations by attempting to penetrate them, and the clashes with senior officers that followed.
