Lord Emsworth's troubles multiply in Service with a Smile (1961), a Blandings Castle novel. His sister Lady Constance has hired him a ruthlessly efficient secretary, and the overbearing Duke of Dunstable is eyeing his beloved pig. Help comes from Lord Ickenham, the Uncle Fred of earlier books, who arrives at the castle and, true to form, bends the truth freely. Along the way he steadies Emsworth's nerves and sorts out several romances among the younger guests.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
