Someone Like You

Roald Dahl's 1953 collection of eighteen stories for adults trades in suspense, cruelty and sharp final turns; several became episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In "Lamb to the Slaughter" a wife kills her husband with a frozen leg of lamb; in "Man from the South" an old man stakes his Cadillac against a soldier's finger on a lighter working ten times running; and in "Taste" a wine snob bets that he can name a claret. Others include "Dip in the Pool," "Poison" and "Skin."
