Sources of Power: How People Make Decisions
Categories: Business & Money, Science & Math
Research psychologist Gary A. Klein studied how people make decisions under pressure in real settings, such as firefighters, nurses, pilots and military commanders. He found that experts rarely compare options but instead recognise patterns from experience and mentally simulate a single course of action, which he calls the recognition-primed decision model. Klein explains the role of intuition, stories and expertise in decision making, challenging classical theories based on analysis.
