Surfing the Cosmos: Energy and Environment

Surfing the Cosmos: Energy and Environment is a book of photographs and text by the artist Steve Miller, with a foreword by Neil deGrasse Tyson, published by G Editions. Miller contrasts the improvised energy of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro with the high-tech physics of CERN, where scientists probe the origins of the universe. The tangles of electrical wire found in both places inspired a series of artworks pictured alongside their photographic sources across 135 photographs.

- Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Surfing the Cosmos: Energy and Environment accomplishes both simultaneously. After feasting on its imagery, I'm provided a glorious connection between the complex but simple wires that power villages and the simple but complex wires that decode the foundations of particle physics. (Foreword written for this book, per his official site.)”
