Swimming in Paris (2024) collects three autobiographical novellas by French writer Colombe Schneck, translated by Lauren Elkin and Natasha Lehrer. In Seventeen, Schneck recalls her pregnancy and abortion as a teenager in a liberal Parisian family. Friendship follows her lifelong bond with a friend until the friend's death from cancer. In Swimming, after her divorce, she finds new freedom in a love affair and in learning to swim well.
