Tales of St. Austin's (1903) gathers P. G. Wodehouse's early magazine stories about St. Austin's, the school of his first novel, The Pothunters. Written for boys' papers, the twelve stories, several featuring boys from The Pothunters such as the irrepressible Charteris, deal with cricket, rivalries between houses, prefects and pranks. The book also includes a handful of short humorous essays on school life and sport.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
