Talking to Strangers
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
In this 2019 book, Malcolm Gladwell examines why our interactions with strangers so often go wrong. Using cases such as Cuban spies who fooled the CIA, Neville Chamberlain's misreading of Adolf Hitler and the arrest of Sandra Bland, Gladwell argues that we default to trusting others, assume behavior reveals feelings, and overlook the role of context. He suggests these habits lead to misunderstanding and conflict. This edition includes a new afterword by the author.
